We will arrive in our final destination today… Santa Fe, NM. We’re excited to return to the El Rey Court where we stayed 21 years ago on our first cross country trip, but we will miss the adventure of being on the road.
It was a pretty relaxed day in Taos yesterday, as it continued to rain and rain and rain. We did everything we could, saw tons of local art, walked all around the downtown, bought a new fleece/raincoat that doesn’t smell like a campfire…

This place is very cool and the structures are all adobe, very New Mexican. Instead of young hippies, it’s full of old hippies who make art, coffee, and chocolate.

We stumbled into a Native American art shop that had the most beautiful things, and the most expensive things! Including pre-Colombian statutes and pottery, according to the shop owner. I’m not an archeologist, so I can’t verify that, but it looked old…
I know yesterday I was ragging on historic hotels and while I do stand by my words, the Historic Taos Inn really is the shit.
It’s aka. the Living Room of Taos and that is true! It’s right in the middle of everything, they have a nice restaurant and a cute bar on site, they have live entertainment every night, and the staff are amazing. Maxine at the front desk let us check in very early and found Chris’ raincoat. She really understands hospitality!

Okay well, we’re off to buy some local art and then make our way south. More later. Love you, miss you! ❤️
