Hey there, I know it’s been a long time since I rapped at ya. Last time we talked we had just completed our second training hike and now we’re here! Learn this lesson from me: they do not mess around with liquids in Heathrow Airport. They will take your only soap and throw it away along with your best ziplock bag…

Oh, and have you ever been the victim of lost luggage? Because I have! You really have to keep that little tag they slap on your passport so it’s traceable and those AirTags are really coming in handy, not stressful at all to track my luggage slowly moving from England to Switzerland. I can feel my hair getting grayer… No, no, no worries guys, after a crazy six hours at the Geneva Airport waiting for my luggage, missing the bus, and then negotiating the most expensive Uber ride anyone has taken to Courmayeur… we’ve arrived!!

It’s really beautiful here; maximum quaintness. We checked into the hotel, which is really like an old, Italian grandmother’s living room (there were literally a bunch of Italian Grammies in the lobby, arguing over where to eat), cleaned up and went in search of food. Despite all of the options we ended up in a bar with no food, but all the flies in the entire Aosta Valley. Finally we went to a restaurant that served polenta and venison ragu.

So tired and jet-lagged, we were in bed by 9:00pm (sorry, 21:00). We were up again at 23:30pm because, jet lag, and Nonna’s rooms don’t have AC!

We’ll be up again at the crack of dawn to get on the trail… wish us luck and pray for clear skies! 🤞🏽
